I lost my phone or can't get a code. How do I get back in?

KB-053 | Applies to: All plans | Last reviewed: October 27, 2026 | Version 1.0

If you lost your phone, got a new one, or your authenticator app stopped working, this article explains how to get back into AffirmReady.

If you have your backup codes

  1. Sign in with your work email and password as usual.
  2. On the Enter your code screen, click Use a backup code instead.
  3. Enter one of the 10 backup codes you saved when you set up your account. Each code works once.
  4. Ask an Owner of your company to reset your authenticator app (see below), so you can set up the app on your new phone.

If you are the only Owner, you can keep signing in with backup codes while you invite a second Owner from the Team page. Once they accept, they can reset your authenticator app for you.

If you don't have your backup codes

Ask an Owner of your company to reset your authenticator app. Here's what they do:

  1. Select Team in the menu.
  2. Find your name under Members and click Reset authenticator app, then confirm.

You're signed out, and the next time you sign in you'll set up the app on your phone again and get 10 new backup codes. An Owner can't reset their own authenticator app, which is one reason we suggest every company have at least two Owners.

If you're the only Owner and have no backup codes

Email support@affirmready.com from the email address on your AffirmReady account, and include your company name. We have to confirm who you are before we make any change to your account, so this takes longer than the steps above. Never send us your password or any codes.

If you got a new phone and still have the old one

Many authenticator apps can move your accounts to a new phone. Check your app's help for its transfer steps. If the codes don't move over, use the steps above.

If your codes aren't accepted

  • Make sure you're using the AffirmReady entry in your app, and enter the code before it changes.
  • Check that your phone's date and time are set automatically. Codes depend on the clock.
  • After 5 wrong codes in a row, your account locks for 15 minutes. Wait, then try again.

Forgot your password instead? See KB-052.

Be ready next time

  • Keep your backup codes somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
  • Running low? Select Account security in the menu to get 10 new backup codes. You'll need a current code from your authenticator app and your password, and your old codes stop working.
  • Have at least two Owners in your company. See KB-006.
